Piecing together off-the-cuff riffs, and inspired by both their east coast 2000s adolescent home and midwest post-rock acts, Haircut attempts to create music with surprising twists and impassioned swells, all to elicit a specific feeling, that at times is indefinable as it is predictable.

Record release show for The Embryos new album "Open The Kimono!"
THE EMBRYOS - listen
Formed in 2017 when George T. Drag (Butterflies, Honda Pavarotti) joined up with the Cooled Out Babies (Finn Swingley, Brian Daley, Joe Daley). The Embryos immediately made the Chicago music scene more catchy, jangle-y, and more rocking. The band's soon to be released E.P., Open the Kimono, melds the 12 string styling of The Church and The Byrds with 70s styled power pop like Big Star and the Soft Boys. With standout tracks like Wake Up Screaming and Hostages of the Orb as well as a fantastic cover of Circleville originally written by the talented local songwriter Markus Ello - the music of The Embryos appeals to fans of classic, catchy, pop-rock.
THE HANDCUFFS - listen
Led by acclaimed drummer Brad Elvis and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Chloe F. Orwell, Chicago's The Handcuffs explore broad sonic territory while believing in the power of a great radio hook. The Handcuffs inhabit some of the same musical domain as T-Rex, Spiders from Mars Era Bowie, Cheap Trick, Franz Ferdinand and early Blondie - all filtered through a modern lens - and deliver bold, sexy songs with memorable melodies and unexpected twists. Known as much for their dynamic live shows as for being prolific writers and producers, their songs have been featured in dozens of films and television shows. The band has released three full-length albums and is currently working on the fourth. They recently released a special Cassette Store Day album called "All the Way from Chicago," featuring a "best of" style remastered sampling of their modern garage-glam songs, plus a never-before released nod to one of their influences, Mott the Hoople. "The Handcuffs are one of the few bands capable of effectively combining the spontaneity and musicianship of glam/punk with the urgency and rough-edged sound of garage rock," says Jersey Beat's Phil Rainone. There's a sexy, swaggering street vibe throughout, added Musoscribe's Bill Kopp. And the Chicago Sun-Times exclaims that The Handcuffs are simply "effervescent." Completing The Handcuffs powerhouse lineup are bassist Emily Togni, lead guitarist Susie Q. Winn and keyboardist Alison Hinderliter.
PHIL ANGOTTI
Phil Angotti has become a household name in the power-pop musical world, especially in his hometown Chicago where he's been performing for 20 years now. He has performed as a solo act through-out his career, and with several bands, most notably the Fleas, the Scuffle, the Beatle Brothers, Not the Beatles (with Brad & Graham Elvis) and his long-time original group, the Idea. He has released 10 different albums over the years, been on several CD compilations and tributes, and has made numerous radio appearances as a solo artist, Beatle Brother and leader of the Idea. Known for his strong lead vocals and versatile harmony singing, he is also an innovative guitarist (acoustic and electric). His style is diverse mixture of British 60's power pop, American folk rock, and modern guitar pop, played mostly with an explosive energy and sensibility.

Thu. Apr. 26 - 9:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
DOOMERANG - listen
Doomerang is an electronic rock band from Chicago, IL composed of members Daniel Robbins (vocals, guitar), Katie Kadan (synth, vocals), Katrina Zemrak (bass), and Kirby Baumann (drums). For the past 5 years, singer-songwriter Daniel Robbins has been writing, recording and playing music in Chicago, both as a solo act and with bands, in addition to recording, producing and collaborating with other local artists. Doomerang began in January 2016 as a recording project for Robbins and over the first months of 2016, the songs that would comprise Doomerang's debut album were written, recording began, and the realization that these songs needed to be played live set in.
From personal, moving songwriting, to teaching music lessons, to passionate live performance, music is native Chicagoan Katie Kadan's life. And as a constant collaborator with Robbins (both on the stage and in the studio), with one of the best voices in Chicago, Katie joining Doomerang seemed to be a given, and so she did in June 2016.
Katrina Zemrak, originally from Winslow, Maine, has been playing the bass for over 10 years in varying genres, including rock, musicals, jazz, and classical. But Katrina's passion for music extends beyond the bass and for the past 5 years she has been focusing on creating music for film and other forms of media and is currently studying at Columbia College. One serendipitous shared cab ride and a few text messages later and Doomerang had a bass player.
The last piece of the puzzle was Doomerang drummer, Kirby Baumann. Originally from Texas, Kirby is a visual artist, chef and self-taught drummer who has gone from beginning to drum at the age of 5 to opening for The Roots in 2009. Kirby's style and influence ranges from rock and roll, to blues, to hip-hop and after answering a Craigslist add in July 2016, Doomerang was complete.

Soon after, the band recruited fellow Annabel guitarist Corey Willis, and began honing in on a full length record. BESTMAN

Fri. May. 11 - 9:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
BESTMAN - listen
BESTMAN is warm digital, arranged to precision yet completely riotous, as if etched onto a wave; impassioned synthpop that blazes like an unruly bonfire on the beach. Combining vibrant pop rhythms with driving electronic bass and sunny, melodic synths, it captures the nostalgia of fleeting emotions and relationships of youth with the introspection of who we are today. The combination of sunny synth melodies with driving rhythm and bass makes for a relaxed West Coast attitude with a hardworking Midwestern backbone.
WATERFALL WASH - listen
A quirky mesh of folk rock and pop punk with inclinations toward the lo-fi/ambient spectrum. From sweeping synth textures to colorful layers of autoharp and steel guitar, their sound pivots across multiple genres to create a diverse sonic landscape.
SILVER LIZ - listen
Based in Chicago, Silver Liz is the brand new bedroom pop project of Carrie Wagner and Matt Wagner. In anticipation of their debut full length to be released in early 2017, they have just released their first single "Float" sided with "Talk to You Soon." Reflecting two distinct personalities behind the creation of the music, both songs are characterized by a thick texture of electric guitar with calm vocal melodies gliding above. The influence of 90's noise rock and shoegaze is undoubtedly present in the base of their sound. However, while shoegaze is known for the lyrics taking a backseat to the sound, the lyrics and songwriting in these two songs is front and center with plenty of hooks. Too Much Love Magazine has described "Float" as "the sweetness of Best Coast’s vocals with Sonic Youth’s distortion and fury. A 90’s shoegaze inspired track with a modern west coast twist.

Sat. May. 12 - 9:00 pm - 21+ - BUY TICKETS HERE!
THE CELL PHONES - listen
We are a three-piece that formed in Chicago in 2008 and have since been playing various venues in the city proper. Our live performance is honest and straightforward; where excess vocals and effects lack we make up for in technicality and intensity. Most of our influences draw from 60's and 80's rock, but our sound lies on a foundation of Metal, Punk and New Wave; all of which Ryan and Justin have been experimenting with since middle-school. Lindsey on the other hand provides a dramatic pop element that brings accessibility to the overall sound, striking an essential contrast that most noise and grind bands tend to neglect.

Fists clash at the beginnings of this meeting of the rock minds. Burned Or Buried. Decide for yourself. We’re ready to hit you.

Noise rock for noise heads, Den offers shrill electronic abrasion, yet trades the formless distortion pedal army for structured heft, lifeless landscapes, Black Sabbath, and Jupiter. Nuclear winter jams for seedy space dives.
BLESSED - listen
Blessed’s sound is weird, noisy and harsh, drawing from surf, rock and post-punk in equal measure. It’s if Radiohead decided to go back to playing guitars and singing actual words with a Siouxsie and the Banshees twist. It’s creepy, but cool, in a way that will make you feel creepy and cool, too.

THE BURST AND BLOOM - listen
The Burst and Bloom, is a 3 piece rock band native to the City of Chicago. The best way to describe them is three life long friends that lock themselves in a room and turn a hard day, several beers, and a bottle of bourbon into a song. They are all ex-members of another defunct band The New Diet. Musical influences span from bands like Brand New, Modest Mouse, Death Cab For Cutie, Weezer, American Football, and Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s to other influences from artist like Chance the Rapper, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay Electronica. The music definitely has a familiar feeling to it with undertones that definitely set them a part from other bands. Putting a lot of emphasis on guitar, bass, and drum tones is matched by the lyrical content and the need to make music that they would want to listen to. Currently TBAB is playing whenever they can to get their new music out there. They made their debut show in the spring of 2016 co-headlining the House of Blues. Currently, they are recording more music after releasing 3 songs collectively called Bricktop Demos recorded at Bricktop Studios with Pete Grossman.
